About Business Mentors
From its beginnings in 1991, Business Mentors New Zealand has steadily grown and developed to become the leading business mentoring service provider to the SME (small to medium-sized enterprise) sector in New Zealand.
Incredibly, the mentoring service has now assisted:
- over 65,000 SME owners - with this number increasing every day;
- engages with an overage of over 4,300 clients every year;
- is supported by over 1,800 volunteer mentors and 28 Agents (Economic Development Agencies and Chambers of Commerce) based throughout New Zealand.
Funding to support delivery of the service comes primarily from the Private Sector of New Zealand business – businesses that understand the challenges business owners in our SME sector face and how the viability of these businesses links directly to the health and wellbeing of our local communities and national economy. They also understand the value of mentoring and the outstanding contribution being made to our communities by BMNZ volunteer mentors every day.
Additional financial support for service delivery is received from the Ministry of Economic Development through New Zealand Trade & Enterprise.
To enhance small business sustainability by mobilising volunteer resources, utilising the skills and experience of successful business people to meet community needs by supporting the creation and retention of employment, and the alleviation of financial hardship in urban and rural communities.
To be the leading, community focused mentoring service for SMEs in New Zealand, providing an outstanding, effective national service at no cost to our clients, after registration. Further, to be essentially funded by business, yet strongly endorsed and supported by central Government, local Government and other key organisations or agencies involved in the development of this important sector.
